Aoi DA Medaka / 碧Da
Aoi DA is a modern Japanese medaka variety prized for its cool blue-gray head expression, luminous pearl-silver body, and dense reflective scale coverage. This listing is for one male and one female imported pair.
Image note: The current listing images are illustrative reference images for the variety and are not photographs of the exact fish you will receive. Individual fish naturally vary in body tone, blue intensity, scale density, size, fin shape, and metallic shine.
- Japanese name: 碧Da
- Romanized name: Aoi DA
- Species: Japanese Ricefish (Oryzias latipes)
- Origin: Japanese medaka strain
- Sold as: One male and one female pair
Reported Lineage
Japanese hobby reporting attributes Aoi DA to Medakaya Akkun and describes the strain as a cross between Aoi and Lumina, developed toward a blue tancho-style expression. Because a complete original breeder pedigree was not available for review, Aquaphoria presents this as reported lineage, not a breeder-certified pedigree.
Appearance
Fish may show a cool blue, slate-gray, or silver head; bright pearl-silver body tone; dense reflective lame coverage; metallic shine across the head, back, and sides; and translucent fins. Blue intensity and reflective shine can vary with lighting, container color, viewing angle, stress, and acclimation.
Best viewing: top view or side view. Dark gray, charcoal, black, or deep navy containers generally provide strong visual contrast.
What You Will Receive
You will receive one male and one female Aoi DA Medaka pair. Individual appearance will naturally vary because these are live fish.
Care
Care level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Adult size: Approximately 1.25–1.5 inches
Setup: Aquarium, planted tub, patio pond, or medaka container
Provide clean, conditioned water, stable parameters, gentle filtration or aeration, and adequate surface area. Avoid sudden temperature or water-chemistry changes, especially after shipping.
Feeding
Offer appropriately sized quality medaka pellets or other small prepared foods, supplemented with suitable live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp or daphnia. Feed small portions that can be consumed without leaving excessive waste.
Breeding
Healthy mature medaka may spawn regularly under suitable conditions. Females temporarily carry egg clusters before depositing them on plants, spawning mops, or other fine surfaces. Separate eggs when fry production is desired because adults may consume eggs or newly hatched fry.
Shipping & Live Arrival
